Discover Costa Rica
Costa Rica means "Rich Coast," and it truly lives up to its name with lush rainforests, pristine beaches, and incredible wildlife! The national motto, "Pura Vida" (Pure Life), captures the relaxed, joyful spirit of the people and their love of nature.
Costa Rica is a leader in conservation, protecting over 25% of its land in national parks and reserves. Visitors can zip-line through cloud forests, hike to waterfalls hidden in jungles, and spot wildlife like sloths, monkeys, poison dart frogs, and toucans. The country straddles two coasts—the Pacific and the Caribbean—each with different climates and animals.
Volcano lovers find adventure in Arenal and other peaks where thermal hot springs bubble naturally from the earth. Monteverde Cloud Forest is misty and magical, with moss-covered trees and birds found nowhere else on Earth.
Costa Ricans are known for their hospitality, their commitment to peace (the country has no army since 1949!), and their focus on happiness and family. The food—rice and beans, plantains, and fresh fruit—is simple and delicious. Costa Rica is a living classroom in rainforest ecology and sustainable living.
