Discover Saint Lucia
Saint Lucia is one of the most visually dramatic islands in the Caribbean, instantly recognisable by its iconic twin volcanic peaks - the Pitons. These two dramatic spires, Gros Piton and Petit Piton, rise dramatically from the sea near the town of Soufrière and are a UNESCO World Heritage Site - they are the symbol of Saint Lucia and one of the most photographed natural landmarks in the world.
The island is lush, green, and alive with biodiversity. The only drive-in volcano in the world is here - you can literally drive up to a sulphurous volcanic crater and walk around bubbling mud pools and hot springs! Saint Lucia's rainforest interior hides rare plants, parrots (the Saint Lucia parrot is found nowhere else on Earth), and spectacular waterfalls. The island has beautiful beaches on both the Caribbean and Atlantic coasts, and the fishing village of Soufrière is one of the most charming places in the region. Saint Lucians celebrate their culture with Creole food (influenced by French and African traditions), the annual Jazz Festival that brings world-class musicians, and a joyful Carnival. The island has also produced two Nobel Prize winners - extraordinary for a small nation!
