Discover Wales
Wales is a magical land of castles, mountains, and ancient Celtic mysteries! If you count castles per square mile, Wales has more castles than ANY other country in the world—over 600 of them! Imagine exploring these stone fortresses perched on hillsides, some thousands of years old, each telling stories of Welsh warriors, kings, and legends. The mountains of Snowdonia are absolutely stunning—Mount Snowdon is the highest peak, and hikers come from around the world to climb to its misty summit where, on clear days, you can see all the way to Ireland! The landscape is breathtaking with deep valleys, hidden waterfalls, and wild Welsh countryside. Cardiff, the capital, is a modern, vibrant city that mixes old castles with contemporary museums, shops, and restaurants. The Pembrokeshire coast has some of Britain's most beautiful beaches with golden sand and crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming and exploring tidal caves.
What makes Wales truly special is its ancient language, its proud Celtic heritage, and its strong sense of community! Welsh is one of the oldest languages in Europe that's still spoken today—many Welsh people are bilingual and speak both English and Welsh. The Welsh people are known for their warmth, their love of singing and music (Wales has incredible male voice choirs), and their deep connection to their land and traditions. There's a famous Welsh phrase "Dim cynghanedd, dim cerdd"—"Without harmony, there's no music"—and this spirit of harmony and togetherness is at the heart of Welsh culture. From ancient stone circles left by Celtic peoples thousands of years ago to medieval castles that dominated the landscape to modern Wales celebrating its unique identity within the United Kingdom, Wales shows that honoring your roots and staying true to who you are is what makes a nation special and unforgettable!
